SRINAGAR, January 6, 2026 In a significant move toward institutional sustainability, the Office of the Principal Accountant General in Srinagar successfully hosted a comprehensive capacity-building session yesterday as part of its ongoing Green Campus Initiative. The program, designed to foster environmental stewardship within the department, was conducted by a specialized Capacity Building Expert from Swaaha in collaboration with the Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s Information, Education and Communication team. The session served as a strategic platform to sensitize staff and leadership on the critical importance of integrating environmentally responsible practices into daily administrative operations.

The event was distinguished by the presence of Shri Ankush Kumar Garg (IAAS), Senior Deputy Accountant General and Shri P. K. Rathi, Deputy Accountant General, both of whom joined officers and staff members in affirming their commitment to the initiative. During the interactive session, participants engaged in detailed discussions regarding the technical parameters required to achieve formal Green Campus certification. The expert facilitators provided actionable insights into waste management protocols, the necessity of rigorous source segregation, and the elimination of single-use plastics from office premises. By focusing on these core areas, the session aimed to bridge the gap between policy objectives and practical, on-the-ground implementation.

Leadership at the Principal Accountant General’s Office emphasized that the journey toward a Green Campus is rooted in collective responsibility and sustained effort. Beyond immediate waste reduction, the initiative seeks to align the department’s functioning with broader global Sustainable Development Goals. By laying this foundational knowledge yesterday, the office has set a clear trajectory for transforming the workplace into a healthy, eco-friendly environment. This session marks the beginning of a phased approach to implementing sustainable measures that will eventually lead to the office being officially recognized as a model Green Campus within the region.
