As part of the ongoing
Green Campus Initiative
under the
Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban (SBM-U)
, the IEC team of
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC)
conducted awareness and evaluation visits to two reputed educational institutions
Heritage School, Jammu
and
Jodhamal Public School, Jammu
to promote sustainable campus practices and assess key environmental parameters. The visit aimed to encourage eco-friendly actions among students and staff while strengthening awareness on waste segregation, recycling and responsible waste management within school premises.


The Green Campus evaluation covered multiple parameters including solid waste management, energy efficiency, greenery and plantation, cleanliness and hygiene, environmental education and awareness, and plastic-free practices. The team assessed the segregation of waste at source, use of color-coded bins, composting and recycling measures, adoption of energy-efficient lighting, plantation drives, maintenance of clean surroundings and initiatives taken to ban single-use plastics.


Both schools showcased encouraging participation and commitment toward environmental sustainability.
Heritage School, Jammu
demonstrated effective waste segregation systems and maintained excellent cleanliness standards, while
Jodhamal Public School, Jammu
displayed active efforts to strengthen plantation and waste management initiatives.


The Swaaha IEC Team appreciated the proactive efforts of both institutions in fostering eco-conscious behavior among students and staff. The team also assured continued support from Jammu Municipal Corporation through regular IEC activities, awareness campaigns, and technical guidance under the Swachh Bharat Mission framework to help schools further enhance their green and sustainable practices.
