Under the Green Campus Initiative started in Jammu and Kashmir under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 this program is rapidly gaining momentum. Everyday we are witnessing increasing participation from institutions across the Union Territory in this drive to achieve environmental consciousness. Today the Jammu Municipal Corporation JMC highlights a constructive visit to Jodhamal Public School a strong contributor to sustainable practices in the region.
The JMC Swaaha IEC Team led by Dr. Vinod Sharma Health Officer JMC along with other JMC officials conducted a thorough evaluation visit on 11-12-2025. The purpose of the visit was clear to promote assess and enhance environmental parameters ensuring the school’s alignment with national cleanliness and sustainability goals as part of the ongoing Green Campus Initiative.
Jodhamal Public School demonstrated strong commitment and progress across all parameters evaluated. The assessment confirmed that the school has made significant strides in Solid Waste Management by implementing effective segregation at source using color-coded bins and establishing promising composting and recycling mechanisms. This systematic effort is critical to the circular economy goals of SBM-U 2.0.
Furthermore the institution showed strong dedication to Energy Efficiency through the maximization of LED lighting and active plans for future renewable energy adoption demonstrating an operational awareness of energy saving among students and staff. The campus also excels in Greenery and Plantation featuring well-maintained trees flourishing herbal and kitchen gardens and sustained student involvement in plantation drives.
The school maintains high standards of Cleanliness and Hygiene with visibly pristine surroundings and hygienic facilities a vital requirement of the Mission. Their efforts extend strongly to Environmental Education and Awareness fostered through an active Eco-club and integrated curriculum. Finally the school’s successful move to ban single-use plastic and promote biodegradable materials showcases its role model potential in Plastic-Free and Eco-Friendly Practices.
