JAMMU CANTONMENT BOARD – February 25, 2026 In a robust commitment to the principles of Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0, the Jammu Cantonment Board today organized a high-impact donation drive at its permanent RRR (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Centre. This initiative serves as a core component of the February Action Plan for SwachhSurvekshan 2025-26, focusing on institutionalizing resource recovery and fostering a “Waste to Wealth” mindset among the residents.
The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community, with citizens contributing a wide array of reusable items, including clothing, books, and household essentials. By operationalizing this RRR hub, the Cantonment Board is successfully diverting functional materials from landfills, thereby reducing the environmental footprint and supporting the needy members of society. This “Jan Andolan” reflects the Mission’s objective of moving toward a circular economy where every pre-loved item finds a new purpose.
The IEC Team and Swachhata Executives were present on-ground to guide donors and spread awareness about the long-term benefits of the 3R philosophy. Beyond the immediate collection of goods, the drive aimed to identify and close service gaps in urban waste management by encouraging source segregation and responsible disposal habits. Senior officials of the Jammu Cantonment Board emphasized that such community-led initiatives are vital for strengthening the town’s operational management systems and ensuring high scores in the upcoming national sanitation assessment.
Through this integrated approach, Jammu Cantonment continues to lead by example, demonstrating that sustainable urban living is achieved when municipal infrastructure meets active civic responsibility.
