In a significant move toward worker welfare, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation organized a dedicated SafaiMitra Suraksha Shivir this March to focus on the health and safety of the city’s frontline sanitation workforce. The event was held in the presence of Commissioner Faz Lul Haseeb (IAS), who emphasized that the well-being of these workers is fundamental to the overall success of the city’s cleanliness missions. This initiative marks a major step in ensuring that those who work daily to keep Srinagar clean are provided with the medical support and protection they deserve.

The camp functioned as a comprehensive health hub where SafaiMitras received detailed medical screenings and professional consultations. These shivirs are specifically designed to monitor the health of the workforce, ensuring timely medical attention and reducing exposure to occupational health risks. In addition to health check-ups, the event prioritized on-ground safety through the distribution of high-quality Personal Protective Equipment kits. Commissioner Faz LulHaseeb personally handed over this essential gear, which includes specialized uniforms, masks, and gloves designed to eliminate direct contact with waste.
