As part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 (also called Swachhotsav), a nationwide campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission, Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted a cleanliness awareness event today at Government Hospital Sarwal, Ward Number 27. The campaign, which runs from 17th September to 2nd October, aims to combine festival spirit, culture and community action to foster a cleaner, healthier, zero-waste urban environment.

The event was graced by MLA Yudhveer Sethi, MLA Arvind Gupta, the Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation, the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu and health and sanitation staff, joined by school and Bar Association stakeholders. The programme opened with the Swachhta Pledge, where participants committed to upholding cleanliness and hygiene in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi. Following this, a Plog Run was flagged off from Government Hospital Sarwal and concluded at Tali Morh, symbolising the community’s dedication to combining public health, environmental cleanliness and active participation.

Event highlights included a strong collaboration among local authorities, healthcare professionals, educational institutions, law bodies and sanitation teams. Coordinated efforts focused on promoting hygiene, reducing litter and strengthening community awareness of cleanliness practices in daily life.

The event ended with a renewed promise from all present citizens, officials and organisations to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings, promote public health and ensure that these efforts continue throughout the Swachhata Hi Seva period.
