As part of the joint Sewa Parv & Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission, Jammu Municipal Corporation conducted a cleanliness awareness event today at Government Hospital Sarwal, Ward Number 27. The campaign, running from 17th September to 2nd October, will culminate on 2nd October (Swachh Bharat Diwas). It aims to combine festive spirit, culture, and community action to foster a cleaner, healthier, zero-waste urban environment.
The event was graced by MLA Yudhveer Sethi, MLA Arvind Gupta, Dr. Devansh Yadav (Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, also holding the charge of Mission Director Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 2.0), Sh. Rakesh Minhas, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Jammu and health and sanitation staff, joined by school and Bar Association stakeholders.
The programme opened with the Swachhta Pledge, where participants committed to upholding cleanliness and hygiene in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi. Following this, a Plog Run was flagged off from Government Hospital Sarwal and concluded at Tali Morh, symbolising the community’s dedication to combining public health, environmental cleanliness and active participation. “This initiative reflects the power of collective action only together can we ensure that our festivities leave behind memories, not waste,” said MLA Yudhveer Sethi.
“Our administration will leave no stone unturned to ensure every public space is clean and every effort sustainable,” said Deputy Commissioner Jammu.
“As MD of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0, I call upon every citizen to embody the spirit of Swachhata in daily life, not just during campaigns,” added Dr. Devansh Yadav.
Event highlights showcased a cohesive effort by local authorities, healthcare workers, educational institutions, legal bodies and sanitation teams. Together, they drove initiatives to raise awareness about hygiene, curb littering and embed cleanliness practices into daily community life.
The event ended with a renewed promise from all present citizens, officials and organisations to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings, promote public health and ensure that these efforts continue throughout the Swachhata Hi Seva & Sewa Parv period.
